Closed petition Rescind the States decision to introduce MOT style checks
The time spent, inconvenience and expense of MOT style checks will be very high. Many cars and motorcycles in Jersey only do short distances slowly and never go abroad where some issues could be more dangerous. An MOT if you're going off the Island could be sensible.

In the UK I've known good cars becoming economic write-offs due to a single low risk issue being too expensive to repair. There could be a lot of decent cars scrapped. To try and get a car or motorcycle through an MOT is hard work if you're trying to save money and do it yourself and could take several visits to DVS. It would certainly be more employment and income for garages but that can't be a good use of everyone's hard earned time and money.
