Cigarette butts are a major source of pollution. As well as being an eyesore discarded cigarette butts are extremely toxic to marine life. The butts can take up to 15 years to break down and contain toxins which leach into the environment. The small size of cigarette ends makes them time consuming and costly to clean on beaches.
Jerseys beaches are a popular destination. Making these beaches smoke free will maintain cleaner and healthier environments for everyone to enjoy.
