Female Genital Mutilation is rightly banned. Male circumcision is not. Whilst not the same, it is similar, in that if consent has not been given by the person who is circumcised then irreversible bodily harm has been done without medical justification.

This is about the rights of children. Removing any part of a child's body without clear medical reasons is not justifiable, even on the grounds of religious tradition. The rights of those who are the most vulnerable in society must be protected from those who would do them harm (remove a part of their body) for non-medical reasons.
