Petition Introduce a scheme of DNA sampling of dog poo to make the owner liable to a fine
The problem of dog owners failing to pick up after their dogs has become an Island-wide problem. This has an impact on the health of Jersey citizens as well as a detrimental effect on the wildlife, cattle, and other animals on the Island.
These offences may be carried out by a minority of dog owners, but this issue needs to addressed once and for all. Research has shown that jurisdictions that adopt the DNA testing program almost completely eradicate the problem over the course of a couple of months. The system is paid for by the fines generated from liable dog owners.
