Deputy Jess Perchard has lodged a proposition to change the coronavirus strategy from 'delay, contain, shield' to complete elimination.

If approved, Jersey would operate a Guernsey-style target of getting rid of the virus. Measures would include:
Widespread testing.
Rapid detection, isolation and contact tracing.
Border controls with intensive quarantine of those arriving in the island.
Guernsey has taken this route and is now two weeks without new cases. They are now in a position to contemplate eliminating COVID-19 completely.

Further to the e-mail of 15th May 2020 from the States Greffe, there is already another e-mail on this subject and duplicate petitions are not permitted. The debate on Deputy Perchard's proposition took place on 19th and 20th May 2020. The proposition was adopted, subject to a number of amendments that had been approved by the States Assembly.
