The recent introduction of a Children’s commissioner to Jersey highlighted the way we can move with the times and introduce safeguards where they are needed. Now it is time to Introduce a similar authority to cover areas that relate to Jerseys public health, both environmental , animal and human.

Jersey is currently in the middle of a pandemic and questions are being asked as to how prepared we were, are and will be, to handle these issues. Our health is too important to be left to scrutiny alone. Jersey and it’s population must have safeguards in place for such things as water quality, air quality and nuclear emergencies. Someone who has power in law to inspect on a regular basis all areas that relate to health and our environment to ensure we are safe and well.
