Petition Open the Library as an essential business
University students are being advised not to return due to the UK lockdown but are still expected to complete work despite this. The Jersey library may be the only appropriate study space for a lot of students, but is closed due to being classed as non-essential.
The library has followed guidelines such as having appropriate distance between tables, cleaning the section after each person leaves, and taking the contact details of anyone that uses its facilities. The building is essential to a lot of islanders including students who are unable to return to university off island but are still having to complete work in time for upcoming deadlines. Not every islander has the luxury of an appropriate work space in their home, so heavily rely on the library.
