Some highly sought after jobs aren't accessible to local professionals because of the lack of on-Island training (e.g. engineers, vet nurses). Dropping the 5-yr residency requirement for qualified people from abroad (whilst balancing immigration control) is necessary for the Jersey economy.

Jersey currently lacks vets and vet nurses, more so since pet ownership increased during lockdown. Due to a lack of training facilities on Island, there is a shortage of suitable local manpower throughout the profession. Increasing the number of licenses available to allow qualified people with under 5-years residency to practice their profession would help support this and other very specialised professional industries. More licenses should be given to smaller local businesses to remedy the current staff shortages on Island.
