Problems arise in high rise buildings when lifts break down. Residents with disabilities are effectively “trapped” in their own homes if they are unable to use the stairs.

By way of example both lifts in Hue Court have been out of action 4 times in the last 3 months and one particular resident was unable to leave the building for several weeks.
Improved regulations are needed to prevent such situations arising and to ensure that any potential accessibility issues are dealt with as a matter of urgency.
