Closed petition Introduce Homelessness Reduction legislation which follows the 2017 UK Act

Jersey needs to implement the guiding framework for supporting the community and tackling homelessness.
Law, legislation, policies, and procedures need to be established to enable support and importantly the continuation of such support.

More details

A new law was passed by the UK parliament in 2017. The Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 means that:

- all homeless people will be able to get help from their Council
- Councils must try to prevent people becoming homeless in the first place
- families with children will still be housed by Councils if that’s the best way to help them

Councils started delivering their new duties on 3 April 2018.
