With the effects of the climate crisis becoming more evident, it's important that more environmentally friendly choices are made. This doesn't have to ruin the Battle of Flowers tradition but could improve the carbon footprint of the annual event.

Using cut flowers in the Battle is not environmentally sustainable for 3 primary reasons:
1.Emissions from the transportation of flowers from abroad (UK and NL)
2.The high level of water needed in order to grow them
3.The inability to compost them after use because of their contact with non eco-friendly glue
Flowers should be replaced with more eco-friendly options
