Closed petition Allow licensed overnight camping at local beauty spots

Jersey has many local beauty spots such as St Ouen's bay that are currently illegal to camp at overnight. While it is understood that the Government wants to protect these sites from vandalism, litter, noise and any public nuisance it seems a shame that local people cannot enjoy an overnight stay

The proposal is that campervans and tentboxes can apply for a licence online from the parish that the site is located at. There would be a small fee charged that would go back to the parish funds and a maximum stay of 1 or perhaps 2 nights. The campers would then have a licence that details the dates allowed, their vehicle number and other contact information. This system would be for local people only in the summer months. It could be trialled just for one summer next year.
