Given that there is maximum speed limit of 40 miles per hour, the use of electric scooters would be relatively safe and a minimum age restriction of 16 could be introduced together with compulsory insurance and compulsory helmets.

The use of electric scooters would help to reduce greenhouse gases and endless traffic jams. Life would be made easier for people commuting to work and being outside in the fresh air has many health benefits particularly in respect of mental health.

Bus coverage is not possible in all areas and Jersey already has too many cars on the roads. It is time that the use of electric scooters was addressed and they were legalised.
