Petition Continue to cover Social Security contributions for employed LTIA claimants

Currently those claiming Long Term Incapacity Allowance (LTIA) receive some contribution credits, depending on their level of incapacity, to protect their entitlement to a pension and contributory benefits so don't have to pay Class 2 Social Security contributions if unemployed or self-employed.

More details

However, should LTIA claimants secure any employment, deductions are made for Social Security contributions. This takes 6% from the employee and 6.5% from the employer. Instead, I would like the Government to continue to provide contribution credits, remove the requirement for the employer to contribute 6.5%, and rebate the employee contribution of 6% to the employer in recognition of their decision to employ a person with disabilities.

The employee will lose nothing but will have more opportunities to work and train. The Government will still have to cover the contribution credits, but they will begin receiving ITIS contributions from these employees.
