Petition Appoint an Independent Health Commissioner for Jersey
Islanders lack an independent authority with adequate scope to oversee health services, investigate risks, and advocate for patients.
More details
A Health Commissioner, complementing but distinct from the work of the Jersey Care Commission, will improve accountability, drive improvements, and ensure fair, transparent healthcare for all.
PFAS contamination and other public health concerns require unbiased oversight. Without an independent commissioner, issues can be ignored or downplayed. Many countries have patient ombudsmen or health commissioners. We seek a role with real powers to investigate complaints, monitor services, and report directly to the public—safeguarding health, trust, and human rights in Jersey.
