“Job ghosting” refers to the practice of ceasing all communication with a candidate, in hopes that the candidate will get the hint that they are not being considered for the position, as opposed to a human resources professional/hiring manager simply telling them they’re out of the running.

It is becoming increasingly common for jobseekers to be left in the dark with their application outcome due to a lack of communication from companies. The rate of UK unemployment has risen to 5% in the three months to September, showing signs that the jobs' market has weakened, according to new official figures.

It should be a legal requirement for all company HR departments to send (at a minimum) an email rejection to unsuitable candidates that will not be called for interview.
