Petition Reduce social housing rents to a maximum of 25% of income

Social housing rents in Jersey are based on 80% of market rents and are among the highest in the OECD. This is causing rental stress to those already suffering from Jersey's high cost of living. Social housing rents should be changed to a system based on a tenant's income and capped at 25%.

This would also mean those living in social housing, who earn high salaries would have to pay more than they do currently, but rents could be capped at 100% of private rents.

Andium pays no tax on its rental income (unlike private landlords) not even on the rent paid by more than 200 key workers (likely earning substantial amounts). Despite their higher level of earnings these key workers occupy Andium properties at 80% of market rates through service agreements with the Government.
