Petition Require social workers to wear body-worn cameras during statutory visits

Recordings should be securely retained in line with the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018 and only made available for authorised complaints, safeguarding investigations and court proceedings. The use of body-worn cameras should be accompanied by clear exemptions that protect the privacy and welfare of children and young people, including during intimate care or when recording could place a child or young person at risk. A decision not to record a required interaction should be documented. The use of body-worn cameras would provide an accurate record of visits, improve accountability, protect children, young people and families, support staff providing a regulated service against unfounded allegations and increase public confidence in the provision of services for children and young people.
